Cathy is director of the MBL/WHOI Library as well as Director of Information Systems within the Marine Biological Laboratory. Cathy has been involved in building network infrastructure for the laboratory and the electronic library that serves affiliates world wide- via high- speed networks and has served as PI on an HHMI grant for building a virtual library; Andrew W. Mellon Foundation grant for building taxonomic information services, tools and communities; NIH contract for outreach in Medical Informatics; NOAA and USGS contracts for library services and a Sea Grant for digitizing the Woods Hole herbarium collection. Currently she is serving as the chair of the digitization committee for the Boston Library Consortium as well as serving on the executive committee. She is the liaison to the BioHeritiage Library Consortium that has a large-scale effort in motion for the digitization of all taxonomic literature.
Indra Neil Sarkar PhD:
"Neil" is the manager of informatics initiatives, which include uBio, at the Marine Biological Laboratory. He has over a dozen publications that describe his research interests, which collectively focus on the integration and organization of biomedical and biodiversity knowledge from a range of resources using computational methods (e.g., molecular systematics, knowledge acquisition & representation, and information retrieval). Neil has a BSc in Microbiology from the Lyman Briggs School of Science at Michigan State University and a PhD in Biomedical Informatics from the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University.

Patrick is a graduate of Skidmore College where he studied Computer Science and Mathematics. Patrick is the primary programmer behind the X:ID identification key software. Patrick also developed uBio's first Taxonomic Name Recognition (TNR) algorithm, FindIT, and co-developed our current offering TaxonFinder. He is also responsible for the uBio RSS application, a taxonomically-intelligent RSS aggregator.
